Template Terms, Refund & Support Policy

1. Overview and Agreement to These Terms

By purchasing any digital template from Make & Hue, you agree to be bound by the terms set out in this policy. These terms form part of the contract between you and Make & Hue, so please read them before you buy. Once your template has been delivered, it becomes your responsibility to add your own content, install any required extensions, and maintain your site going forward. Make & Hue cannot undo accidental edits, restore previous versions, or reverse changes made after delivery, so we recommend duplicating your site or exporting a backup before making major changes.

2. Delivery and the Squarespace Trial Period

Each purchase includes a one-time delivery of your chosen template, sent as an invitation to a Squarespace 3-month free trial site. Accepting the invitation and keeping your trial active is your responsibility; Make & Hue has no control over Squarespace's trial timelines, extensions, or account management, and cannot guarantee that a trial extension will be granted if you request one directly from Squarespace support.

If access is lost, a repurchase is required. If your trial site is deleted because the trial period expired, if you accidentally delete the template yourself, or if you do not accept the delivery invitation within 3 months of purchase, your access to that copy of the template ends permanently. Make & Hue is not liable for any content, customisation, or work you have added to a trial site that is subsequently deleted or expires, and a new licence fee will apply if you would like a fresh copy of the template.

3. Refunds, Exchanges and Cancellations

Because our products are digital and are delivered instantly and in full at the point of purchase, all sales are final. If you are purchasing as a consumer, by completing your purchase you expressly request immediate delivery of your template and agree that, once delivery has begun, you give up the 14-day cancellation right that would otherwise apply to online purchases. This does not affect your statutory rights if a template is faulty, not as described, or not fit for purpose — see Section 8. If you are purchasing as a business, no cancellation right applies once the template has been delivered, and this policy is our full agreement on refunds and cancellation.

Exchanges are offered as a goodwill gesture. If the template you chose isn't working for you, we're happy to exchange it for a different design of equal value from our current store, at our discretion. Exchanges are limited to one per original purchase and aren't available once support access, custom files, or licence keys for the original template have been used or shared. To request an exchange, please contact our support team within a reasonable time of your original purchase.

Chargebacks and payment disputes. Raising a chargeback or payment dispute instead of contacting us directly is treated as a breach of this policy and may result in the immediate suspension of your licence and support access, without affecting Make & Hue's right to challenge the dispute and recover any resulting costs.

4. Licence and Permitted Use

Each purchase grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the template on one live website only. This licence doesn't transfer ownership of the design, code, or files to you; it simply gives you permission to use them for the purpose described below. If you wish to use the same template on a second website, a separate licence must be purchased for each additional site.

Client work is permitted, but ownership isn't. You may use our templates to build websites for paying clients. However, you may not claim, represent, or promote the template design as a bespoke or original design created solely by you, and you may not sell, sublicense, or transfer the underlying template files, source code, or licence itself to your client or any third party. Each client site built from one of our templates should be treated as requiring its own separate licence purchase, unless stated otherwise in the individual product listing.

What you cannot do. Regardless of how the template is used, you may not resell, redistribute, rent, lease, share, or otherwise make available the template files, graphics, code, or any other purchased design elements — whether modified or unmodified — to any third party. You may not use the template, or any part of it, to create a competing template product for sale or distribution, and you may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the underlying design system for reuse outside the single licensed website.

5. Copyright and Intellectual Property

All templates, designs, layouts, code, and associated files sold by Make & Hue are protected by copyright and remain the intellectual property of Make & Hue at all times, except where stated otherwise. Purchasing a template gives you a licence to use it under the terms above; it doesn't transfer copyright or ownership of the underlying design to you.

Demo photography and graphics aren't included in your purchase. Any photography, stock imagery, icons, or pre-made graphics shown for demonstration purposes within a template are the copyrighted property of their original creators and are used under licence by Make & Hue for preview purposes only. These images aren't licensed for your use and must be replaced with your own images, or images you've separately and correctly licensed, before publishing your site. Make & Hue accepts no responsibility or liability for any copyright infringement, licensing dispute, or legal claim arising from your continued use, publication, or distribution of demo photography or graphics after delivery.

You're responsible for how you use the template. You agree to cover Make & Hue against any claims, losses, damages, or reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your use of the template in breach of this policy — for example, unlicensed use of demo imagery, unauthorised redistribution of template files, or content you've added to your site.

6. Support Policy

We provide 30 days of free email support from your date of purchase, to help you get up and running. This includes support with template delivery and installation, initial set-up questions, and fixing genuine template design faults present at the point of delivery.

What's outside the scope of free support. Free support doesn't include adding or formatting your personal content or copy, custom CSS or code changes, troubleshooting third-party plugins, extensions or integrations, layout redesigns, or issues caused by edits made after delivery. We're also unable to guarantee support outcomes for issues caused by Squarespace platform updates or changes made by Squarespace itself, as these are outside our control.

Extended support is available. If you need help after your 30 days have ended, or you'd like hands-on help customising your site beyond the scope above, paid extended support packages are available — please get in touch for current pricing and availability.

7. Promotional and Showcase Rights

By purchasing a template, you grant Make & Hue a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to feature screenshots, mock-ups, or links to your completed website (once published) in our template showcase, on sales and marketing pages, in customer galleries, and across our social media channels, for the purpose of demonstrating and promoting our products. We won't share your private business information, login details, or unpublished content, and if you'd prefer your site not to be featured, simply let us know in writing, and we'll exclude it from future promotional use.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Templates are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee that any template will be error-free, uninterrupted, compatible with every browser or device, or suitable for your specific business needs, and we make no guarantees about traffic, conversions, sales, search engine rankings, or any other business outcome resulting from your use of a template.

We're not responsible for things outside our control. Make & Hue is not liable for site errors, malfunctions, or design breakages caused by custom CSS, third-party code, plugins, apps, or integrations installed or modified after delivery, nor for temporary or extended downtime, outages, feature changes, or discontinuation of features on the Squarespace platform itself. We're also not responsible for data loss, content loss, or site deletion resulting from expired trials, cancelled subscriptions, or actions taken by you, Squarespace, or any third party.

Our total liability is capped. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Make & Hue's total liability to you arising out of or in connection with your purchase, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, is limited to the total amount you paid for the template giving rise to the claim. We're not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including loss of profits, loss of business, or loss of data, even where we've been made aware such losses were possible.

9. Important Notes on Using Our Templates

You'll need an active Squarespace subscription to use and publish any Make & Hue template; please check the individual product description for any specific plan, plugin, or integration requirements before purchasing.

Lifetime access doesn't mean lifetime updates. You have lifetime access to download and use templates you've purchased, but we can't guarantee that every template will continue to receive updates indefinitely, particularly if Squarespace changes its platform or editor. If a template is retired or removed from our store, it will no longer receive updates, though your existing licence to use it remains valid.

All prices listed in our store are in USD, unless stated otherwise.

10. Platform Independence

Make & Hue is an independent business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Squarespace, Inc. "Squarespace" is a trademark of Squarespace, Inc., used here for descriptive purposes only, to indicate the platform our templates are designed for.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our products, support processes, or legal requirements. The version in force at the time of your purchase governs that transaction; any changes made afterwards won't retroactively affect the terms you originally agreed to, unless required by law.

12. Governing Law

This policy, and any dispute arising from your purchase, is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and both parties agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
