Who We Are

Make & Hue ("we", "us", or "our") is a UK-based business operating the website makeandhue.co.uk and our online template shop (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit or buy from us, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

By using our Website or making a purchase, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed as described here.

The Information We Collect

When you browse our Website, place an order, or subscribe to our newsletter, we may collect your name and email address, your billing address, your order and purchase history, and technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and device information, collected automatically via cookies (see below).

We do not directly collect or store your card details. Payment for your order is processed through Squarespace Payments, Squarespace's own payment processor, which is independently responsible for handling your payment information securely. We never see or store your full card number.

Why We Collect It and Our Legal Basis

We use your information to fulfil your order and deliver your template, which is necessary to perform our contract with you. We use it to provide customer support, also to perform our contract or because it's in our legitimate interest to resolve your query properly. We use it to send service-related emails, such as order confirmations and delivery instructions, again to perform our contract. Where you've opted in, we use it to send marketing emails about new templates or offers, based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. And we use aggregated technical data to understand how our Website is used, based on our legitimate interest in running and improving our business.

Marketing Emails

We only send marketing emails to people who have actively opted in — for example, by ticking a box at checkout or signing up to our newsletter separately from placing an order. Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and opting out at any time won't affect your ability to receive order-related emails or your legal rights.

Cookies

Our Website, hosted on Squarespace, uses cookies to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how visitors use our site through Squarespace's built-in analytics. A cookie consent banner lets you choose your preferences before any non-essential cookies are set, and you can also control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though doing so may affect how the Website functions. We also use Google Search Console to monitor how our Website performs in Google Search results; this doesn't involve sharing any personal data about you with Google.

Sharing Your Information

We share your information only where it's necessary to run our business: with Squarespace, our website and e-commerce platform, and its payment processors, to host our store and process your order; with our email service provider, if you've subscribed to our newsletter; and with HMRC or other authorities, where required by law. We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing purposes.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep order and transaction records for as long as required under UK tax law, currently up to 6 years. Other personal data is kept only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, after which we delete or anonymise it.

International Transfers

Because we use international service providers such as Squarespace, your information may be processed outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your data to UK standards.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, request a copy of your data in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you're not satisfied with our response, you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you're a California resident, note that we don't sell personal information, and you're welcome to contact us with any request about your data in the same way.

Children's Privacy

Our Service isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via our Website, and continued use of our Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
